What is Garbh Sanskar ?
The term Garbh means womb, and Sanskar means imparting values, teachings, or positive impressions.
Together, Garbh Sanskar means educating and nurturing an unborn child with good thoughts, values, and habits even before birth.
According to the Hindu Vedic Sanskriti (ancient Indian culture), Garbh Sanskar is the practice of following certain mindful and positive activities that contribute to the social, physical, spiritual, and mental well-being of both the mother and the baby.

When to start Garbh Sanskar During Pregnancy?
Garbh Sanskar is not limited to the months of pregnancy—it is a journey that ideally begins before conception. Traditionally, it starts right from the Garbhadhan Sanskar (the sacred act of planning and preparing for conception) or soon after it.

The process continues throughout pregnancy, with mothers engaging in:
Listening to devotional or calming music
Reading inspiring literature and scriptures
Speaking lovingly to the baby
Practicing meditation and yoga
Eating wholesome, nutritious food
Keeping the mind peaceful and happy

The idea is that a calm, happy, and spiritually aware mother passes on those qualities to her baby, helping them grow into a balanced, intelligent, and compassionate individual even before they enter the world.

Sensorial development in the womb:
It covers the entire journey right from before conceiving, the pregnancy phase and the lactating phase of a mother.
A fetus develops a variety of senses in the womb, including touch, taste, smell, and hearing:

Touch :
The first sense to develop, with receptors forming in the face as early as 8 weeks into pregnancy. By 12 weeks, touch receptors are developing on the palms and soles, and by 17 weeks, they are developing on the abdomen. By 32 weeks, the fetus has a sense of touch that is sensitive enough to feel a single hair brushing against its body.
Taste :
Taste buds mature as early as 13 weeks, and fetuses may develop a preference for sweet tastes.
Smell :
The sense of smell begins to work from around 16 weeks into pregnancy.
Hearing :
Studies on prenatal auditory learning have focused on the development of the auditory system.
Light : Although it is dark in the womb, human skin allows some light to pass through, which may provide some illumination for the fetus.

The development of sensory functions in the womb helps prepare the fetus for life after birth. For example, the ability of newborns to recognize their parents and their native language is a result of the sensory development that takes place in the womb.
